Neighborhood Segregation Game Rules Each O wants to live in a neighborhood with at least two other minority neighborhoods Each X wants to live in a neighborhood where most o its neighbors are majority members Move unhappy X’s and O’s to squares that will make them happy What we learn: It is VERY easy for a neighborhood to become segregated Index of Dissimilarity Meaures the amount of segregation between two groups in a city Meaures the proportion of each groups poplation in each of the city’s neighborhoods Rangers from 0 to 1, where higher numbers represent more segregation Rule of thumb: o Indices <.3 are low o Indices .3-.6 are moderate o Indices >.6 are high There 1,000 black residents and 10,000 white residents in a city. It has 3 neighborhoods (9% black, 11% black, and 10% black). How would you describe this city? o Slightly segregated- 1/10 people are black!! Each neighborhood has even distribution of blacks- each city has pop. of 10% Why do we care?

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
