Speaking of religion, Thailand's main religion is Theravada Buddhism, which literally means "teaching of the elders" and Thai refer to their religion as their way of life. Buddhists believe in and take protection from the “Triple Gem” which is comprised of Buddha (the teacher), Dharma (the teachings) and Sangha (the monastic community).

[THAILAND BUDDHA] Hughan V.O: Thailand’s Buddha is named Siddharta Gautama, Thai's devotion to Buddha is more similar to the student’s great respect for his/her teacher which is different from Christian’s perception of a “God.” [THAILAND'S DHARMA] Hughan V.O.: Buddhism’s principal teaching or “Dharma” is the Four Noble Truths which imposes that underpinning all existence is suffering, which one can be liberated from through practicing the ‘Eightfold Path’. In general, Four Noble Truths serves as a guide for Buddhists on how to live life and incorporate life values.
