CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT 2 Case Study for Managing a Construction Project Solicitation for a Feasibility Study for Cherry Creek Apartments LLC Introduction Construction management is the process of planning, coordinating, monitoring and controlling all the activities involved in construction, in order to achieve the set activities. According to Chun et al ., (2015), the five stages which are involved in construction management include; design, pre-construction, procurement, build and finally owner occupancy. From the foregoing, is evident that construction management as a profession, helps in ensuring that the management of a construction project, is within the cost, meets the set standards, is defined within the known scope and that the project environment is safe, to ensure efficient discharge of various duties. The Cherry Creek Partnership is a complicated union of investors who construct prestigious apartments and homes in prime locations. The construction which is being planned for by Cherry Creek Partnership is an eighty-unit prestigious apartment homes in the Naples, Florida area. The construction will lie in a 22-acre land. According to the request which has been launched by the partnership to the client, CMU block wall, otherwise known as (C-I-P walls), as a slightly expensive alternative. In terms materials, light-gauge steel trusses will be used in roofing, Brick, wainscoting, otherwise known as synthetic stone, will be used in enhancing the aesthetic value. The roof will be designed, such that it can consume minimal materials, while it remains strong enough to resist wind. No clay tile will be used in roofing. All the units will have kitchens with bar-top, closets and general apartment design layout. Fire space, as well as a mechanical room with water heater will also be fixed. The single bedroom, will be having just a bath, the double room will have two baths, while the three bedrooms will have 2 baths and a
CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT 3 power room. It is worth to note that these are proposals of the construction management company. However, the company is open for the proposals from the developer. This report will therefore analyze the implementation process of the project.
