Running head: WEEK 4 ARCHER TRIAL2Elements of The CrimesAfter a tragic series of events that took place at Columbus University, Chris Archer is being charged with 1stdegree murder in violation of The New Columbia criminal code section 2-745 and count 2 of criminal hazing in violation of section 4-1213. The New Columbia criminal code states, “first degree murder is the deliberate and premeditated unlawful killing of a human being. Premeditation means that the defendant actually reflected on the idea of killing, if only fora brief period.” Additionally, section 4-1213 states, “serious physical injury or death results, or islikely to result, from an act or the direct influence of a gang or fraternity/sorority member during the initiation process. This charge may be brought in conjunction with any other violent crimes against a human being.”The defendant planned to murder Milan Jackson on “Hell Night” days before the event took place. It was on November 22, 1997 that the defendant purposely executed his plan to murder thevictim. The defendant’s actions have resulted in a charge of first-degree murder. Moreover, the
