Duran 1 Ursula Duran Dr. Mitchell THE2000-06HH 09/19/2019 Paper 1: Actors Critique The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time takesus through the mind of a 15-year-old autistic boy by the name of Christopher Boone. His journey begins when he finds his neighbor’s, Mrs. Shears, dog Wellington dead in her yard. After being accused of killing Wellington, we are taken through Christopher’s thought process as he attempts to uncover who truly murdered Wellington and ends up finding out a little more than he first anticipated. Through the duration of the play, I found Kyle Brumley’s portrayal of Christopher Boone to be quite moving and connective to the audience, while Clint Thornton’s performance of Ed Boone was lackluster and left more to be desired. Transforming into a character can mean transforming into someone opposite yourself. For Brumley transforming meant becoming a 15-year-old autistic boy. In the opening scene, Brumley’s character is in shock and upset about Wellington’s, the dog, death and is approached by a police officer who attempts to move him away from the dead dog by grabbing the young boy.
