The triplealliance was made of Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy while triple entente was made ofGreat Britain, Russia, and France. With the help of the US, triple entente won the war, andGermany was punished for causing the war. In the 1919 treaty of Versailles, Germany wasordered to pay the allies for the losses during the war, reduce her army to 100,000 people,creation of a demilitarized zone with France and returning the provinces of Alsace and Lorraineto France (Duiker, 2015). In 1933, Adolf Hitler became the chancellor of Germany. Hitler rose topower promising to reclaim Germany’s position in Europe, a position taken away after the firstworld war.
