Victor Turner mentions the concepts of Liminality and Communitas in anthropologicaldiscourse. Turner wanted to understand cultures through dynamism and disorder while seeingsociety as a dynamic process and structure (changing and in limbo). Liminality draws from theideas of Rite of passage (things/celebrations people do to move through definitions and rankingsin a society). Van-Gennep described his triadic model of the rite passage through these steps, 1disengagement where the individual is removed from his society (symbolically), Luminal wherethe person is secluded from society, and reunion where the person is reintegrated.
