Project #2 – Historical Investing Project This project is worth 75 points and is designed to help you get familiar with investing in stocks and mutual funds. It is due before class (see syllabus for due date). For this project you will answer a variety of questions that have you gathering data on investment choices that you find on the internet to help you analyze different investment choices. (finance.yahoo.com or ) Choose three of the publicly traded companies in your Investopedia simulator and identify the following items about the companies: (everything can be found on finance.yahoo.com) 1. The sector group the stock is part of. (profile page) 2. What does the company sell? (profile page) 3. Does the company pay a dividend and if so, how much in a year? (quote page) 4. Create a table in a spreadsheet that provides the closing price of the stock on the following days: (historical prices – use adjusted close column) a. Dec 31, 2014 b. June 30, 2015 c. Dec 31, 2015 d. June 30, 2016 e. Dec 31, 2016 f. June 30, 2017 g. Dec 31, 2017 h. June 30, 2018 i. Dec 31, 2018 note: if there isn’t a price on that exact day choose one close to it.
