The Mycenaeans were a group of people from the time 1600-1100 bc. During this time, the late bronze age, they had built fortified palaces on hills with stone walls. The Mycenaeans had came to and end due to the invasion by the Darians in 1100 bc.What was the Dark Age? The Dark Age was from 1100-750 bc. This while the darians were in reign. The population had declined. But not only that, there was a lot of chaos rioting throughout this time. However there were also very few written records about what was going on during this time period.Describe the iliad and the Odyssey- Why are they important. The Iliad and The Odyssey were written by Homer after the Dark Age. These stories revealed the characteristics that the greeks valued. Even though, these stories were fantasies, they taught as those values that the people had valued making them very important.What are the two meanings of the word Polis? What is the Acropolis? The polis was the social, cultural, political, economic, religious center of the greek life. While the Acropolis was a fortified hill, temple or public building, was the center of the religious and public life for the people. What are the two most powerful City-States? The two most powerful City-States were actually rivals causing a war that lasted more than a decade long. They were Athens and Sparta. Sparta had the most powerful military while Athens had the classic Greece culture.
