Social Studies 2 Social Studies Differentiation Part 1: Lesson Plan Grade level: SS2G1 Locate and compare major topographical features of Georgia and describe how these features define Georgia’s surface Social studies standard: Arts standard: VA2C.1 Applies information from other disciplines to enhance the understanding and production of artworks. VA2.CR.4 Understand and apply media, techniques, and processes of two-dimensional art VA2C.2 Develops life skills through the study and production of art. Learning objective: 1-2 learning objectives: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the five geographic regions of Georgia and their characteristics by working together to complete a graphic organizer about Georgia’s regions. Students will identify each region based on characteristics and facts given to them to create a diorama . Description of the learning activity that integrates social studies and the arts (100-150 words): The teacher will present a video about the regions of Georgia and review the previo u s lesson. Ask questions to activate prior knowledge and make connection. What are some differences between the northern regions? How do other regions compare to the region you live in? Whats special about your region? Students will research and discuss two fun facts about a region. T he students will apply their knowledge of regions , based on descriptions, facts , artifacts, and characteristics given to them in a box or bag to display in their diorama.
