Passage: Luke 10:38-42
For this assignment, you will be studying a story from the Gospels. More specifically, you will
be studying Jesus encounter with Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42. You will use the template

Plot: (50-100 words)
Jesus has come into the village of Mary and Martha and Martha invites him to
Dinner. Martha is worried and stressed trying to get the meal perfectly together, and
Mary is focusing all her attention on Jesus. Martha frustrated asked Jesus his opinion
on Mary not helping and he tells Martha that Mary knows the importance of his word
and he would not take that from her. This is suggesting that Martha should stress less
over the things that do not matter as much.
Story structure: (50-100 words)
Jesus has come to the village where Martha and Mary reside, and Jesus was
teaching the word of the Lord to those gathered around. Martha was busy in the
kitchen preparing dinner for everyone and is frustrated that Mary is not helping.
Martha tells Jesus it is unfair Mary is just sitting listening and not helping, and Jesus
tells her Mary is doing the right thing by listening and putting the Lords word first
and he would not change what is right.
