Discussion #4: Gender Stereotypes Kendrick Rainer 1.Gender identity is about how someone expresses his or her gender. Even though many roles that both parties play in today’s society, some people still judge others based on how they think men and women should act. Most of the time I would see children act on gender-stereotype in school or the playground. Certain people think that girls are supposed to just play with barbie dolls, jump ropes, skip around and play with chalk while boys are supposed to be rough and back kickball, throw rock, play in mud and play football. Children get these ideas from either what they see around their family or society. The more exposed a child is to these ideas, the easier it is for them to believe them. 2.Caregivers (parents) forced the idea that a boys and girls have to act and dress a certain way. Most parents teach their daughters to be gentle and delicate as a flower and with their sons,
