Sydne Baker Professor Warner19SU English Composition II (ENGL-1213-TW02U) 19 July 2019The Border CrisisThe issue at hand is the illegal immigrants entering the United States at a high rate and what is being done about it and how the people of the U.S. feel about it. This is also known as the “border crisis.” The border crisis is pleasing some people of America and upsetting others. This topic has recently been covered on most news stations and in many newspapers and magazines. There is a high number of illegal aliens entering the country at the United States-Mexico border and the President Donald Trump campaigned to put an end to this. Shortly after he was elected, he began working hard to get the plans and money to build a border wall between the two countries. He felt it would make the United States safer without all the illegal immigrants entering the country at such a high rate and this would then help to better the economy itself. The United States needs to protect their country and its people and will stop at nothing to do just that. The border crisis presents obstacles and issues that impacts society and divides the country yet there is common ground that can be agreed upon. The problem addressed in this essay is the overwhelming number of illegal aliens entering our country at the border between The United States of America and Mexico and what’s being done about it. Also, how each party or side of the argument wants to handle the situation at hand. National efforts are being made that President Donald Trump put into motion which is the building of the border wall between both countries. This is what has caused a big
argument between the people of the nation on whether they agree with it or not. However, part of the wall is built, and the rest is being built. Each side has valid points to argue and some things they can both agree on.Many citizens support the wall being built because it decreases the amount of risks being imposed on the United States, drug cartels, gangs, guns, and although it’s expensive, in the long run some think it will benefit the economy. First off, the creation of the border wall is going to help decrease threats imposed on the United States, “A double-layer protective wall coupled with high-tech security devices and cameras will make crossing into the United States illegally via land barriers both more difficult and expensive” (Kolosky). The increased cost and difficulty to cross is expected to make crossing into the United States illegally, much less appealing and therefore makes terrorists and traffickers less susceptible to cross into the U.S.
