Geography Project Plan 2 Introduction Education has always been very important to my family and I. People travel all over the world to obtain a good education. In order to get good jobs, you need education. The issue is, we need education reform. This has always been an issue and unfortunately, it probably always will be. Education reform basically changes schools so that students can have equal education across the board. In Johnston County North Carolina, there are forty-eight schools. Out of forty-eight schools, there are two that have been taken over by the state of North Carolina because they are failing schools. Does this have anything to do with the towns these two schools are in? What is causing this problem? I want to take a look at this problem and try to find possible solutions. General overview Of the forty-eight schools in Johnston County North Carolina, two of them have been taken over by the state due to the passing rate. These two schools are in harsh areas, and they are underfunded and pretty rundown. They do not have all the funding that schools in other areas of the County do. This school is also composed primarily of minorities. One school is Selma middle school and the other is North Johnston middle school. The news and observer which is a newspaper says, “Next year, five North Carolina schools that rank in the lowest 5% will be taken away from their districts and handed over to a charter school operator as part of the state's new and controversial innovative school district” [ CITATION Joh \l 1033 ].The newspaper article
