Do men dominate the scientific field or their abilities are the reason? 2 A lot of research have been made to support or oppose what Lawrence Summers, Harvard President, announce about the reason why men more than women succeed in science and math and be represented in scientific fields. Summers refers that to the inherent abilities. The opposing side of what summers had said refers the interval in science and math among girls to favoritism and socialization. People who support what summers had said say that he raised an important issue that need to be noticed. They support what they say with the results of the research have been maid which found genetic differences between boys and girls and many other differences (glazer, 2005). It has been argued that discrimination of boys at schools is the reason for this gap between the numbers of each sex represented in the scientific fields not the genetic abilities. According to the AAUW report, what make teenage girls be dejected from specializing in science and math is teachers at schools when they pay less awareness to girls which cause them feeling depressed and reduce their self admiration (2005). On the other hand, the shortchanged is actually against boys, according to recent research have been made. That can be noticed easily when we know that 56% of student enrolled in college are girls and this percent is estimated to rise up to 60% in 2012 (2005). From the above statistics we can see that if there is any bias, it will be toward boys. Also, not all of the school teachers are men. There should be female teachers in schools who will not treat the girls in away that might discourage them. Another kind of discrimination has been claimed to be found at the universities faculty level. Women’s groups say
