CHAPTER 01- BACKGROUND STUDY 1.1 INTRODUCTION Transportation system can be defined as the combination of elements and their interactions, which produce the demand for travel within a given area and the supply of transportation services to satisfy this demand. This definition is general and flexible enough to be applied to different contexts. The specific structure of the system is defined by the problem itself or class of problems for whose solution it is employed. It enable people to make their regular journeys from home to work, school, and shop and provides the essential means of access to health care and other welfare services. It makes possible increasingly diverse and discriminating pattern of social and leisure activity. According to E.Cascetta (2001), transportation system can be defined as the addition of aspects and their interactions, which fulfil the demand for travel within a given area and the supply of transportation services to satisfy this demand. Nowadays, people still using public transport to reach their own destination such as work, vacation and many other places. The examples of public transport are bus and taxi, aeroplane and train. This research will attention to the facilities for bus stop. Bus stop can be defined as, the point at the started and ended of a bus route, where the vehicles stop, reverse and wait, before departing on the return journey. At any bus stop that have a same for their public facilities. Every facilities must have a good construction and fulfil the demand of passengers.
