Summary: This case study involves three people: - the patient who had a history of abortion seven years ago and is currently pregnant, the attending physician and the nurse. The patient is afraid of not disclosing an information of her medical history as she finds it offensive the way the nurse communicated to her when her medical history is used by nurse to be judgmental on her current pregnancy. Analysis: The nurse did illegal by making a negative statement regarding the patient as this defamed the patient’s character by being slander as she used malicious words concerning the patient that hurt patient’s emotions and she violated the nurse duty to be integral towards the patients (Fremgen, pg. 39, 2016). This was unethical as this involved the invasion of privacy, as the information the nurse provided to the patient was not directly given to her. Invasion of privacy refers to the unauthorized publicity of information about a patient (Fremgen, pg. 39, 2016). The nurse was at fault as her way of communication was inappropriate to the patient; she was criticizing the patient without been empathetic. She violated the codes of Ethics of American
