Memo To: Michael Golla From: Tahia Rahman Section #: 512 Date: 10/09/2019 Re: Lab 9: Hydraulic Circuits II: Meter In and Meter Out Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to understand the functions of meter-in and meter-out circuits in a hydraulic system. Procedure: For the first exercise, a meter-in circuit will be built. A schematic diagram is provided to show how each component is connected. For this exercise, the check valve and flow meter are connected to the by-pass check valve is connected to the piston side of the cylinder. The inlet flow is restricted but the outlet flow is not. The second exercise is the meter-out circuit. Built similarly to the first exercise, however this time the by-pass check valve is connected to the rod side of the cylinder. This time the inlet flow is not restricted. Results: Next page. Conclusion: Meter-in hydraulics have a restricted flow at the inlet to control how the retraction time of the rod. The outlet flow is not restricted. Meter-out hydraulics had restricted flow at the outlet
