68 Johnson County Community College BIOL 150: Biology of Organisms Unit 11 Fungi and Bryophytes RATIONALE: Distinct from both plants and animals, members of Kingdom Fungi possess unique characteristics and have important impacts on the heath of ecosystems. In addition, many directly impact human health and agricultural economies. We then begin our examination of Kingdom Plantae by examining its basal lineages, the “bryophytes.” OBJECTIVES: 1. List the phyla of Kingdom Fungi and give a representative genus for each phylum. 2. Compare and contrast the representative fungal and bryophyte life cycles presented. 3. Define and differentiate the terms used to describe fungal and bryophyte anatomy, physiology, and reproduction. 4. List three (3) phyla of bryophytes and give common examples of each. 5. Describe the components of lichens and analyze their metabolic roles within the lichen. 6. Differentiate the three (3) growth forms of lichens. 7. Differentiate sexual and asexual reproduction in each group.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
