Crysta Shoffner B5 AP. Language and Composition Mrs. Stroup 30th January, 2019 Professions for Women 1. According to Virginia Woolf, what are the two main obstacles to women’s professional identity? Are these still the two main obstacles, or does the contemporary woman face different hurdles? Explain. According to Virginia Woolf the two main obstacles to women’s professional identity is telling the truth about being a women, growing from the profession they started and being able to grow their profession and share it. These obstacles can hinder modern woman, but it doesn’t as much as it use to. Women have to overcome prejudice daily like women use to, women are often seen as the weaker sex and it still lingers today. On the other end, many women are able to establish themselves well in a profession and even be the head of the profession unlike ladies in previous years. Instead of women having “won rooms of your own in the house hitherto exclusively owned by men”, they are able to be in charge and grow their profession unlike the women in previous years.
