After entering and reviewing all three cars, I am not the least bit surprised at the results. Of course, the 2012 Honda would consume more gasoline at 442 gallons per year, so that did not come as a big shock. What did shock me was the cost per mile? Between the three example cars a difference of only 0.05 per mile. It seems that there is little to no advantage between the per mile savings of the three cars. What is impressive is how much more you are paying for the cars. The 2012 Honda accord priced in at 22,180 and was the cheapest of the three. The shock came from the price tag of the 2012 Chevrolet Volt at a hefty price tag of $39,145. The Chevrolet Volt used the least amount of fuel annually, but the overall cost of ownership is much more than the other two. The Toyota Prius had the best results in all categories and was the lowest at an overall cost of ownership. Even with this data, I still would not want to own one. After re-running the numbers at the cost of $10/gallon of gas, it clearly shows that owning the 2012 Honda Accord would cost the most overall after 15 years. this indicates that
