Alisya Azrai Character Bio Caleb Calloway is the main character of the story. He was born in New Jersey on May 5th 1993 to George Calloway and Leslie Calloway. But moved to New York City in 1995 when his mother had decided to do her PhD in Business Administrations at Syracuse University. During that same year, his younger brother, Maven Calloway, was born in the midst of things on July 26th 1995. While Caleb’s mother focused on her PhD, his father took it upon himself to be the breadwinner of the family and ‘the mother’ figure as he took care of the two boys, did the laundry and cooked because he wanted his wife to focus solely on her PhD. As a result, Caleb as a character shares this empathy and closeness towards his father more than his mother because his father took care of him as he was growing up. Closeness between Caleb and his father is only visual when Caleb is his adult self because when they were growing up his father raised the two boys in a strict manner to discipline them the way his father disciplined him when he was Caleb and Maven’s age. George Calloway’s father, Caleb’s late grandfather, worked as a highschool principal in his youth while George was growing up. Hence, explains the strict nature. Both Caleb’s parents met in college during their undergraduate years, where they attended at Southern New Hampshire College in Manchester, New Hampshire, where his mother double majored in Business and Child Psychology and his father majored in Finance then both of them continued to pursue their Masters at the same college. Leslie Calloway came from a well off family, where her father worked as a lawyer. He owned his own law firm. Her mother lived her days, tending to her garden and house. George Calloway came from the bottom part of the social status pyramid. His dad was a highschool principal and his mother passed away when he was six from childbirth. George got into college because he worked hard to get where he was, but was not lucky enough to receive a scholarship or aid for college. He begged family members to loan him the money. Even his father, but with his strict nature, he was turned down by his own father.
