Tyler Hensley LIT-100 Dr. Perry 10/18/19 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone The one contemporary issue that comes to mind immediately in Harry Potter Sorcerer's Stone is social justice. The Harry Potter book challenges the people who read, to dive into the different world like Harry Potter, and not think about how it can relate to our world. What J.K Rowling does in Harry Potter Sorcerer's Stone is is provide a meaningful message that leaves an impact on readers for social justice. This also includes the unpopular group, and also the underprivileged of society. What the social justice perspective does is bring up issues such as ethnicity, race, gender, and class. Before diving deep into social justice, their is a connection between that, and critical literacy. Critical literacy starts as education, and by knowing the education of it, while having a critical debate to benefit the knowledge. Harry Potter provides a democratic education to learn as a reader. The three main characters, appearance and social status is an examination of humanity.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
