Article Review Three Kossivi, B., Xu, M., & Kalgora, B. (2016). Study on determining factors of employee retention. Open Journal of Social Sciences, 4 (5) , 261-268. Introduction With advancements in technology, companies are needing to get ahead of their competition and the technology driven workforce. To remain competitive, organizations not only have to attract the best candidates but also have to focus on retaining employees. Employee retention focuses on keeping employees within the organization for as long as possible. It encompasses a cluster of issues to solve in order to ensure employees are driven and satisfied. Previous research on employee retention have focus on items such as compensation, challenging work, promotions, atmosphere of organization, and relationships with colleagues. The purpose of the current study is to review the literature on employee retention to identify individual factors that makes an employee want to stay within said organization. Methods The research consists of using secondary sources. The current study analyzed previous studies that focused on employee retention with an emphasis on group factors. The current study broke down those broad categories (like job stress and job satisfaction) into eight smaller categories that focus on individual factors: development opportunities, compensation, work-life balance, management/leadership, work environment, social support, autonomy, and training and development.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
