It is one of the most powerful resources that humans use on a regular basis. I myself can’t live without it. It’s such an amazing resource full of opportunities!! But unfortunately, the internet is full for half-truths, propaganda and fabrication. It’s a place where really anyone can create a website, post a blog, write a review, and even share pictures and videos. With over a million people viewing what is being published on the internet everyday it creates some suspicion on what is real and what fake. Obviously, some websites I use are more credible than others when it comes to finding certain information. Agreeing so, Pew Research Center states that, “people are much more trusting of news websites, and far more skeptical of the accuracy personal weblogs.” (Pew Research Center). Any websites that end with .edu, or .gov are pretty well known to be top level domains. Websites containing one of the following in the URL typically have the most reliable information out there. Everyone, including myself, should be paying attention to where they are surfing on the internet bearing in mind that not everything you read is true. I really must be careful when using such a powerful source as the Internet. In reality, businesses should take steps to protect their employees and customers no matter what!

Now, businesses are one of the main reasons why the internet is a place full of such intriguing and useful information. You can find business hours, amenities, and even reviews that are very easily accessible to anyone who has a cell phone, tablet, or lap top. Companies can pay to have their exact info posted on some of the worlds most trusted search engines i.e. Google. But other superficial sources can also post the same info without the company’s permission, creating lots of confusion. This is something that can be either beneficial or detrimental to any business that decides to use the internet as a source of marketing. I see that people can falsely post info on the internet, and it causes some concern for business owners. If one customer has a bad experience, they will most likely express their frustration in some form on social media. Which makes a lot of sense because I definitely would? I would also express if I had a good experience!
