Running head: Women With Past Sexual AssaultAdult and young women are often victims of sexual assault in the U.S with the consequences lasting falling on not just the individual but also the close family and society at large. According to RAINN.org 2017 statistics, a U.S citizen is sexually assaulted at least in every 98 seconds. In addition, one in five women with one in four girls experiencing this vice before they turn 18 years old, going by the 2015 statistics. In my state Florida, women aren’t safeeither. If 2015 statistics is anything going by, there were 7,537 and 3,195 forced rape and foundling cases recorded respectively. In addition, one in six women gets sexually assaulted in FL according to Florida Council Against Sexual Violence (FCASV). According to RAINN, sexual assault can be sexual contact or behaviour which can take place void of explicit consent with the victim. It goes further to recognize it can take different forms including unwanted sexual touching (fondling), attempted rape, forceful attempt for one toperform a sexual act like oral sex, victim body penetration forcefully what is commonly known as rape. On a wide perspective, it can also include incest or sexual harassment. While every woman is different, there is no specific typical response or sexual assault recovery time limit.
