Lee, a school teacher named Bert Cates is on trial for teaching Evolution in his science class. It is illegal to teach about Charles Darwin’s Evolutionary Theory in Hillsboro, Tennessee because of the states law disowning teachings other than the Bible. Henry Drummond, an agnostic lawyer, who is defending Bert Cates in the trial goes against a fellow friend of his, Matthew Harrison Brady. Brady is an expert on the Holy Scriptures and defends the state of Tennessee. The whole town of Hillsboro is rooting for Brady and wants Cates to go to prison. The lawyer, Henry Drummond would make the best defendant because of his quick wit and his unbiased views on life. Henry Drummond is very quick witted when it comes to defending Bert Cates and himself. Drummond says "All motion is relative. Perhaps it is you who have moved away- by
