Proficiency level analysis is an important tool to determine student’s eligibility for ELL teaching services. It depends on the student’s Overall Proficiency Level. The scores collected can inform if a student is a proficient and therefore not eligible for ELL program placement. If the student’s scores meet the criteria for AZELLA at any other Overall Proficiency Level, then s/he may be considered for ELL program placement. The AZELLA is Arizona’s English language proficiency assessment. There are five proficiency level descriptors; pre-emergent, emergent, basic, intermediate and proficient. The
