PSY 224Jessica Myers2-1 Discussion: Research Ethics.I have chosen to discuss the neuroethics around using cognitive enhancers. As with any new facet of science, we must always consider the way we obtain this information and also how and what this information will be used for. One could argue that for a long time our society has dealt with cognitive enhancers. I remember the moment I was told by a friend that a person I envied for their ability to absorb large amounts of information quickly could do so because of heruse of Adderall. I remember the instant removal of all respect I had for said person and the grudge a carried that we were not learning on an even playing field. That she would be praised for an academic prowess that she did not actually possess. The ability to obtain cognitive enhancers would go to those who either have a disorder that requires it (essentially putting them at an even playing field with the majority of society) or those who have dispensable income.
