1.4.8 Practice: Economic Opportunity in Colonial America Practice Assignment AP U.S. History Sem 1 (S3530872) Name: _____________Jash Jhajj_______ Points possible: 40 Date: _____10/9/19_______ In this assignment, you will use what you have learned about indentured servitude and colonial labor systems in the Americas to write two letters in which you imagine being an indentured servant who has immigrated to one of Great Britain's colonies in North America in 1700. This assignment is worth 40 points. See the scoring rubric below for more details on how you will be graded on your essay. You will now write two letters from the perspective of an indentured servant in 1700. The first letter will explain which colony you have decided to immigrate to upon arriving in the colonies and why you chose it. The second will be written six months later, after you have experienced life as an indentured servant. Your two letters should include information about your fictional indentured servant's age, gender, skills, religious beliefs, financial situation, and any other information you believe is pertinent. Be sure your letters demonstrate your knowledge about colonial labor systems and indentured servitude, as well as your understanding of the historical thinking skills of comparison and contextualization. Feel free to use resources that supplement the materials of this course to write your letters.
