Reflection Paper #4 Sociology 493 Lani Martin 02/15/2019 Culture Mirriam-Webster defines culture as “ the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group”[ CITATION Mir19 \l 1033 ]. According to the author of our text “…culture is ubiquitous” [ CITATION lis \l 1033 ]. I did have to look up that word, ubiquitous, and I prefer her explanation, culture is everywhere. There is not one place I can think of where culture is not present whether it is a work culture, social, religious, school, Family, etc. Our text talks about the book Folkways by William Graham . I can attribute these to my salon very easily because within our culture they hold true. Folkways which are looked at casually if at all are things like wearing open-toed shoes (it can be painful to get hair sliver in your foot so doing this is done at your own risk), not wearing gloves while performing a color service (color stains the fingers) and wearing something other than the color black (our salon has a black on black dress code including shoes).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
