Introduction McDonald Company is one of the most common brands globally. The business was commenced in the year 1955 by Roy Croc. The company is well known for its brand mission which is to be our customer, favourite place and way to eat. McDonald has expanded over the year with over 3100 local restaurants in approximately 117 countries. Like other companies, McDonald Company has for many years experienced various training problems with their workforce. A statement released by the company reveals that the company’s major training issue is the employees’ unpreparedness and skills advancement. Soft skills, for instance, customer services, teamwork, and responsibility which typically are in high demand, are short in supply in a number of McDonald's restaurants. However, this is an issue that can be addressed with proper training and equipping the employees with more advanced skills which enable them improve their productivity in the company. In businesses, McDonald for instance, outdated basics like time management, good communication and collaboration is highly valued. However, with the shortfall of such skills among the employees is posing a challenge in these restaurants hence making it quite difficult for it to run a productive restaurant. In this essay, my main focus will be on some critical problems in regards to training and development programmes. I will point out the training challenges in the McDonald’s restaurants and remedy to these challenges. I will also be pointing out various competitive training strategies to improve the business production. Analysis I have been contacted by the McDonald management to help improved productions and to not only point out the problems but also resolve the issue. These brands have a decrease in sales as well as various problems over the years. In hope of fixing the current issues, McDonald has always tried to introduce new menu. These menus are brought to 2

reduce the gap. However, this strategy has failed for their sales have seen a decrease and losing customers. McDonald is seeking our help to determine what measure to take in order to improve their sales and help their restaurants rise to beat their rivals. From my understanding, good training to the employees would be a good start to equip them with skills which will help them improve their production. McDonald’s has already adapted to a number of training and development methods. However, there is still a need to research on training and development processes. Just like in other existing businesses, McDonald’s restaurants consider their employees as their main assets. They want their employees to work effectively with efficacy so that the business can achieve its goals. For McDonald as a company understands that for it as a business to achieve its goals, its employees must be well trained.
