(Sharma) This is achievable only if the new system is only replacing one system. The new system is very small or simple. The old system is judged to be without value Parallel Conversion Parallel conversion is when we install the new system side by side the old system and run them both together. (Sharma) We measure the output of the new vs the old and fix any issues that may rise about during this phase. It is a safer option to our end goal as we won’t have to work out discrepancies on the fly Phased (Modular) Conversion A phased section is just that it occurs in stages. (Sharma) For example, you replace one sales system, if it works out then you move on to the next system. This helps to alleviate the balloon cost of replacing all systems at the same time. Risk of failure is localized due to it being in steps rather then all at once. Pilot Conversion This type of conversion is done via utilizing a pilot program for new systems. (Rouse, 2014) For example, rolling out new systems to one sales team, and if that is successful then deciding your next steps. This can help prevent unnecessary system purchases if the new system doesn’t work out that well. IT also helps to get a training force ready by utilizing the pilot program Recommendation I personally feel the Phased conversion is the best option. It allows for the safest failure mitigation since it will be localized. It also allows normal business to continue without bringing everything down It also provides minimal loss of work due to training needs Usability Testing Usability testing is our test to determine whether a system is user friendly. (Guru99) IT ensure that applications are easy to use at all levels of expertise It also ensures that are systems are flexible to meet the needs of the different levels of expertise. Load Testing We will also test the systems at load, or maximum capacity. (Guru99) We need to ensure that your new systems will operate within daily operations and even more then daily operations in the event you have a busy day. The last thing we want is to roll out a system and it not be able to perform under normal daily load. Regression Testing This is our most important testing as we will comb over the whole system and ensure we didn’t cause any new bugs with the new system. (Guru99) A new system should be good to use out of the box although that doesn’t always happen so it is important that we test for that such that daily operations can continue. References Guru99. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
