DISCUSSION 2 Discussion The luxury fashion industry is highly risky, and brands have a limited time to sell their products. Each year in September or October, designers go to Italy and France to check out the new fabrics that have been developed. They will then need to commit a considerable sum of money to get exclusive access to a specific fabric that will form their core material in designing the clothes they will sell for that fashion cycle. The fashion cycle lasts eighteen-month, and it is only then that a brand can evaluate whether a design it introduced has been a success or a failure. The luxury fashion industry has a limited time to market its products which means that the risk is high. After the eighteen-month cycle, a fashion trend will be overtaken by another one. The company, as a result, has to get all the details right for their design to be a hit in the market.
