Last Name 1 First and Last Name Professor Class November 8, 2019 Critique of Virtue Ethics When deciding whether an act was in line with virtue ethics, proponents of this theory argue that we must ask ourselves what or how a virtuous person would act in similar circumstances. Therein lies the first problem of this ethics theory. How does one identify the ideal person who is deemed virtuous upon whom they should model their behavior? Those who believe in Christianism will infer to Jesus upon whom humans need to model their behavior. This opinion is not shared with non-Christians. Virtue ethics falls short in explaining how to resolve this impasse. There is lack of consensus on the specific virtues humans should aspire to achieve. According to Aristotle, a major proponent for virtue ethics, people should be guided by “the Golden Mean.” This is a term used to define the middle ground for both extremes of a scenario.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
