WORLDVIEW FOUNDATIONS OF SPIRITUALITY AND ETHICS 2 The aspect of the topic readings that I have found most interesting is the effect tension between science and religion. The tension is not in line with the fundamental objectives of medicine and care and is also failed to serve the best interest of the patients. Scientism, as a philosophy, claims that the only way to have an understanding of reality is through sciences. Nonetheless, the primary weakness of this philosophy is the inability of science to make any ethical or moral judgements which are necessary in the medical practice. Harmony between science and religion is necessary to ensuring effective care to the patients because spirituality too plays a significant role in the provision of health care (Connell Meehan, 2012). The analysis of disease and healing according to the readings requires basic worldview training for the care providers for efficient service to the patients. Such training
