18 - Why It Matters Microevolution is a change in frequencies of alleles or heritable phenotypic variations in a population over time Population of organisms includes all individuals of the same species who live in the same place at the same time 18.1 - Variation in Natural Populations A phenotypic variation is differences in appearance or function between individuals of the same population, these differences can be passed onto the next generation 18.2a - Phenotypic Variation Quantitative variation is when individuals vary in small incremental ways Ex] people in a class room are all different heights but the heights will all increase slowly and there all people with all different heights Qualitative variation is the variation that mendel studied. It means variation in characters that exist in two or more different and discreet states (for example a purple flower a white flower or a green flower) and there is no 'in the middle' as there is with quantitative variation

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
