Viruses don’t belong on the tree of life because they aren't living Viruses cant reproduce and require a host cell in order to carry out its processes Where do viruses come from (hypothesis's) Perhaps the ancestors of viruses were some sort of bacteria that lost all its abilities and broke off the tree of life over a long period of time until all that was left was its genome Maybe they gained the ability to infect different cell Maybe viruses are not breaking off the tree of life and maybe they were there before the origins of life and the first cells Retroviruses A retrovirus carries its genome In the form of RNA Its hard to make a vaccine for a virus because the virus is 'hidden' within the host cell and its hard to kill the virus without killing the host cell HIV is a retrovirus, so it has RNA instead of DNA. HIV needs to find a way to convert the RNA into DNA so that it can infect the cell

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
