Chapter 7 begins with explaining some of the new advancements in technology to help the retailer. I was very shocked at the intelligence of these devices have and that are already in place. Some I was familiar with, but some were brand new. The author discusses some of the issues that the new technology has. One of the more important one was that employees were not nearly as engaged with customers as they used to be. They acted more as “slaves to the machine” rather than store employees. This will need to be corrected to help increase store/brand loyalty and increase overall customer service. Another issue, since the machines take away someone’s job, there is no middle step for employees to work up in the company. There is a back and forth on if stores should be brick and mortar or continue to have the machines. It is said that neither is better

While other products can be bought quickly and easily. The point being that both types of shopping are different and effective which is what the consumer will be after. The chapter then goes on to explain believer, super-users, and co-creators. All three of these are the traits that make employees worthy and help drive sales. They also set apart the companies from the average shops. These three traits are so important because it is what consumers want. Variety, efficiency, and uniqueness are some of the most important things to have. Companies and employees having these three will make them very successful retailers....
