The Sun: Crash Course Astronomy 10 Transcript 1. Explain what the sun is and how it differs from other stars we see in the sky. The sun is a big star made of hydrogen. The sun differs from other stars because it is the closest to us and the hottest. 2. Discuss how we are able to feel the sun’s heat and see its brightness? Nuclear fusion in the core make the hydrogen atoms combine and create helium. The helium creates little energy which is then released. The energy combined creates the heat we feel from the sun. 3. Describe sunspots and how they impact the overall energy of the Sun. Sunspots are dark areas on the surface of the sun made by plasma. The sunspot is surrounded by gas creating the area to be hot and result in taking over the sunspot. 4. Discuss the difference between solar flares and CME’s. Solar flares and CMEs build up magnetic pressure then the difference is CME’s explode. A CME is larger than a solar flare and occur off the sun’s surface.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
