Repeated use ofthese substances may lead to the development of behavioral, physiological, and cognitivephenomena, including the strong desire to use the drug despite its harmful consequences. Asubstance is abused when one is using it is a way that isn’t intended or when a person uses morethe quantity prescribed. In certain instances, criminal or anti-social behaviors occur when aperson is under the influence of such substances. Apart from being depressed, drug addicts arelikely to experience social and financial problems. As a result, they are prone to be impulsive orengage in high-risk behaviors, which lead to self-harm. Various authors have conducted studies on substance abuse. Based on a study conductedby Fruhbauerova and Comtois (2019), substance abuse is associated strongly with suicide deaths.
