The impact of the Holodomor on the history of UkraineLast Monday we listened to a lecture given by the American journalist, writer and historian Anne Applebaum. In her lecture she touched upon a very important and tragic topic for Ukraine. Anne spoke about the Ukrainian Holodomor and its impact on our future. For me the main in this lecture were the two issues that Anne discussed. The first question was what prompted Stalin to wage war against Ukraine. And the second question is how the Holodomor influences the events that are taking place in U kraine now. Stalin created the famine throughout the Soviet Union. Famine was the result of collectivization. Stalin created unrealizable plans for grain exports and as a result, there was not enough food for the whole country. However, for Ukraine it was not just a famine, but genocide of the population. In the autumn of 1932, Stalin adopted a number of decisions concentrated directly in Ukraine. His goal was not to destroy all Ukrainians, but to weaken
