1 Youssef Jalloul Medical Ethics Paper # 3 Stem cell research has shown great prospective in curing many diseases and will continue to show if federal funding is provided for it including research enabling the creation of new embryos for the sake of research. Stem cell research should continue because it has shown wonderful possibilities of what it can do to the field of medicine. Adult stem cells are already being used today to treat about 60 diseases which include Parkinson’s, spinal cord injuries, and heart damage, even though these types of cells have limited flexibility and some minor problems, where as embryonic stem cells have the potential of becoming any type of cell out of the 220 cells of the human body so the possibilities are endless with the treatments that they hold and for that fact, the research for creating new embryos should be carried on. We already treat many women who cannot have babies with in vitro fertilization so “curing diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and diabetes is at least as important as enabling
