Drugs have been an important part in my life since before I can remember. Not taking them, but being  told about how bad they were and people who did them were also bad. As I have grown, I have  educated myself about various drugs and wondered why they hated as much as they are. In the state  of Michigan for instance, marijuana is illegal and is punishable by up to one year and a fine of up to  $2,000, unless the possession occurred in a park, which increases the penalty to a possible 2 years. In  the year 2000, over 734,000 arrests were made in the US due to marijuana related offenses (NORML).
