My Civic Journey The civic issue that I chose to reflect on was the issue of the legalization of marijuana for the stakeholder’s research project. This is an important issue because it will earn Canada more in taxes and safe us money on arrests for weed and gain more money from taxes that we can use to improve healthcare systems and hire more teachers to make our education even better. It is also important to legalize cannabis because it is harder for underage people to access it, it will put drug dealers out of business and you know what is going to be in the marijuana, so it’s not going to be laced with anything which is the concern of many people. I think the legalization of marijuana won’t necessarily help “druggies” it will more so help people that need to use some for certain conditions and disease or people with mental illnesses like anxiety and depression. It will also help taxpayers because it will lower the prices on tax, since tax rates will go up on marijuana they can lower important rates like gas prices and maker dollar more expensive. The issue that I changed my political point of view from was the legalization of marijuana is bad for the economy. I thought that before I knew that the legalization of marijuana would be good for economy, I thought it would be worse and harm the people that are not going to use marijuana. I thought before it would bring out more “druggies” and you would just smell cannabis everywhere you went. I have realized with further research it won’t be everywhere
