The nature, participants, instruments, and relationships of the money and capital markets are examined. Credit 3. Course Prerequisites: None College of Business Administration (COBA) Learning Objectives: 1. BBA graduates should be competent in the areas of critical thinking and problem solving 2. BBA graduates should be competent in the areas of oral and written communications 3. BBA graduates should be competent in the business foundation 4. BBA graduates should be competent in discipline specific knowledge Course Learning Objectives: 1. Understand the basic structure of our financial system and why the financial system is important 2. Understand interest rates and their role in valuation 3. Understand the structure of the Federal Reserve System and how the Fed conducts monetary policy 4. Understand the principles of specific financial markets 5. Understand the principles of specific financial institutions Required Course Materials: 1. Text (Recommended): Mishkin & Eakins, Financial Markets and Institutions , 9 th ed., Pearson, 2017. 2. Financial Calculator (Required): Any financial calculator will do, but I recommend (and will instruct you on the functions of) the HP 10BII or the TI BAII Plus . You are responsible for understanding how to operate it. Calculator manuals are not authorized references. Smart phones are prohibited, and you may not share a calculator with anyone.
