Several factors play a major part in how patient care is being delivered and measured. Business practices, regulatory requirements, and reimbursement are important aspects needed to implement satisfactory patient-centered care. The business practice aspect of how patient-centered care is implemented within an organization could be described as patient satisfaction and outcomes. Every agency has policies or guidelines that are mandated to be used when providing patient care. These policies should always be used to help reduce medical errors and have better patient outcomes. The patients viewon their care during their admission is vitally important. Also, involving the patient and their families in care is important. The patient should be allowed to have access to their health care records and understand what care plan will be implemented in their care. These business practices can help improve patient outcomes and prevent miscommunications that could lead to legal issues. Regulatory requirementsRegulatory requirements are set within an organization to provide safety standards and guidelines that the organization must follow. Two agencies that ensure that organizations are performing care in compliance with their rules and regulations are the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission. The Joint Commission verifies compliances and gives accreditations to organizations that meet the requirements. Healthcare

ReimbursementsPatient-centered care within a healthcare organization is impacted by reimbursement. Theamount of reimbursement given to an organization can be affected. Medical errors and adverse events are two factors that impact the amount of reimbursement. Organizations are reimbursed through government funding, commercial insurances, Medicaid, and Medicare. Reimbursement guidelines are set to help improve patient outcomes and quality care.
