1. Compare the business models and core competencies of Google, Apple and Facebook. Google: Google believed that in the future the devices used to run applications and other internet options should become cheaper and that the revenue should come from the application’s advertisement. Google’s core competencies are its ability to maintain its software engineering. Google is the world’s leading search engine therefore, they need to be able to keep its programs up-to-date and well maintained. Apple: Apple believed that creating a strong hardware base for the internet future and thus logically they play their role in this battle by laying emphasis on the hardware that facilitates mobile computing. Their business model focuses on controlling all aspects of their software and hardware. For example, Apple only allows apps from its app store and not Google’s store.
