ENDING WORLD HUNGER 2 World hunger is the most perpetual and widely experienced problem that the global population faces today. It is a problem that affects nearly one billion people who are undernourished worldwide. The rapid increase in population, particularly in developing countries, combined with the decline in the land available for agriculture, compounds the problem to an alarming level. The primary causes of hunger include poor agricultural infrastructure, over-exploitation of the environment, poverty and civil war and conflicts, as well as natural disasters. While these causes are complex and resistant to change, the world must make an effort to address hunger and malnutrition in a sustainable approach. With the growth in technology and knowledge, three key solutions can be implemented to stamp out hunger across the world. Nearly one out of four undernourished people in the world live in urban areas. Thus, implementing practical, sustainable, and reliable urban agricultural practices is an effective way to hasten the reduction of world hunger. Governments must intervene to empower communities and farmers to promote sustainable farming and adopt urban farming practices. It is only by
