Question 1: Lean synchronization has three building blocks: the elimination of waste, the involvement of everyone, and continuous improvement. Discuss the possibilities for applying each of these building blocks in your case company. To what extent does your case company use lean synchronization? According to Slack et al. (2013), ‘’synchronization means that the flow of items (materials, information or customers), that constitute services and products always delivers exactly what customers want (perfect quality), in exact quantities (neither too much or too little), exactly when needed (not too early or too late), and exactly where required (not the wrong location). And Furthermore according to Slack et al. (2013), Lean synchronization is to synchronize the flow of items at the lowest possible cost. Another definition of lean synchronization is also stated: ‘’lean synchronization aims to meet demand instantaneously, with perfect quality and no waste. The above described concept can also be called ´’lean´’ or ´’just-in-time’’ (JIT). The building blocks of lean synchronization consists of: Elimination of waste: to eliminate activity that adds no value to the product. Three causes of waste are muda, activities that add no value to operation or customer, mura, periodic overloading of staff or equipment, and muri, unnecessary or unreasonable requirements put on a process leads to poor outcomes, i.e., waste.
